Travel Notes

Essential Jammu & Katra Preparation

Vaishno Devi Yatra Preparation

Yatra registration (parchi) is mandatory. Get it online (maavaishnodevi.org) to save time. Calculate your Pathankot departure backward from your parchi slot. Night departures (10 PM) reach Katra for a preferred 4-5 AM trek start.

Lakhanpur Checkpoint & Katra Access

All vehicles register at Lakhanpur. Keep government photo IDs ready. During Navratri, private vehicles face parking restrictions in Katra. Our drivers know the designated lots where pony/palki operators work.

Season & Best Time

Oct-March: Best for Jammu city temples (winter capital). Navratri (Mar-Apr, Sep-Oct): Peak yatra season; 50k+ pilgrims daily; heavy traffic. Jan-Feb: Snow on upper trail near Bhawan can affect access.

NH-44 (Jammu-Srinagar) Notes

The highway to Srinagar has strict one-way restrictions on specific days and is subject to weather/security convoy closures. Always verify the current schedule before planning a drive beyond Udhampur.

What Our Passengers Say

★★★★★

"My family of seven came from Pathankot to Katra for the yatra. We had a 5 AM trek slot. The Tempo Traveller picked us up at midnight, handled Lakhanpur smoothly, and had us at Katra by 2:15 AM. The driver knew the parking zone during Navratri restrictions. No confusion. For a yatra with elderly parents, that logistics level is everything."
