Destination Guide

The Golden Temple, the City & the Border

The spiritual capital of the Sikh faith, the site of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, and the Wagah border where the subcontinent stages its most theatrical sunset every evening.

The Spiritual Centre
✡ Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple)

Open 24 hours, free entry. The Amrit Vela (3-6 AM) is the holiest and quietest time to visit, with the kirtan drifting across the dark water. We depart Pathankot at 1:30 AM specifically for this experience. The langar serves 50,000+ people daily.

History
🕏 Jallianwala Bagh & Partition Museum

Jallianwala Bagh is 200m from the Golden Temple. A powerful juxtaposition of the sacred and the traumatic. The Partition Museum at Town Hall (1 km away) is the first museum dedicated to the 1947 displacement.

The Spectacle
🇮🇳 Wagah-Attari Border Ceremony

30 km west of Amritsar. The daily ceremonial lowering of flags. Takes place at sunset (4:30 PM winter, 6:30 PM summer). Arrive 90 minutes early for a seat. Driver manages the timing and waits at the grandstand parking.

Culinary Capital
🍲 Kulcha, Lassi & Fish

Amritsar's street food is unparalleled. Amritsari kulcha (Kesar Da Dhaba), lassi (Brother's Dhaba), and Amritsari fish. Ask the driver to incorporate a food stop into your day circuit.

What Our Passengers Say

★★★★★

"Asked specifically for the amrit vela visit. Departed Pathankot at 1:45 AM. Arrived at parking by 3:30 AM. Stepping barefoot onto the cold marble with the floodlit temple across the dark water — I cannot describe it. Langar at 4:30 AM was quiet and warm. Back in Pathankot for my 9 AM meeting. The most spiritually significant two hours."

★★★★★

"Full Amritsar day circuit with elderly parents: Golden Temple in the morning, Jallianwala Bagh, lunch at Kesar Da Dhaba (driver waited 40 mins for a table without complaint), and Wagah at 5:30 PM. Driver got us front row seats at Wagah by knowing exactly when to leave the city. From a 7 AM departure we got a complete Amritsar."

★★★★★

"Flew into Amritsar airport from London at 6 AM. Connecting to Dalhousie. Driver was waiting at arrivals. Took me directly to the Golden Temple for a morning visit, then a kulcha breakfast, then direct to Dalhousie arriving at 1:30 PM. The temple visit added nothing to travel time since I was in Amritsar anyway. Superb coordination."
