From Dehradun, Jaipur can be reached via two distinct routes. The choice affects which intermediate points you pass through and whether you can incorporate a stop at the Taj Mahal.

The NH 48 is a 6-lane access-controlled highway (the fastest road in Rajasthan) with a 120 km/h limit. It takes 2.5–3 hours from Gurgaon to Jaipur under good traffic.

The Yamuna Expressway (165 km) is one of India's finest highways. The NH 21 (Agra-Jaipur) passes through Fatehpur Sikri and Bharatpur.
Jaipur's Pink City is a dense, medieval-plan walled city. The approach to hotels requires knowing the correct gate and road. The driver delivers to the right entrance.
Heritage hotels within the walled city have vehicle access through specific gateways. The driver knows which gate leads to your hotel (e.g., Gangapole Gate for Samode Haveli). We can stop at Hawa Mahal for photographs before delivering to your hotel.
For passengers flying from Jaipur onward, the taxi drops directly at the terminal. JAI access is straightforward from NH 48; the driver exits at the Sanganer junction before entering Jaipur city, which is 20-30 mins faster.
The taxi continues past Jaipur city to Amer at no extra charge. The approach passes through Zorawar Singh Gate. Driver knows the correct approach road to Jaleb Chowk for elephant rides (not the general tourist parking).
Modern luxury hotel belt: Trident, Marriott, ITC Rajputana, Rambagh Palace. All have direct vehicle access and are the easiest drops from the NH 48 approach. We can arrange multiple vehicles in convoy for weddings.
Driver drops at the bazaar entrance — Johari Bazaar from Tripolia Gate, Bapu Bazaar from New Gate — and can wait while passengers shop. Sanganer block-print factory visits can be incorporated.
Jaipur Railway Station and Sindhi Camp bus terminus are covered for passengers continuing deeper into Rajasthan (Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bikaner). Driver drops at the correct platform or bus bay entrance.
The most-used route: via Haridwar, Meerut Expressway, Delhi, and the NH 48 Jaipur Expressway. A 10-11 hour drive best started at 5-6 AM.
The Jaipur run demands an early departure: 5 AM clears Delhi's outskirts by 9:30-10 AM, before the Ring Road/NH 48 junction builds up. A 7 AM departure in peak season adds 60-90 minutes of traffic.
Same as the Delhi highway: Haridwar (optional ghat stop), Roorkee (chai), Muzaffarnagar (breakfast). An early departure enters the Meerut Expressway in the cleanest traffic window.
From the Meerut Exp, the route takes the Ring Road southwest to NH 48 at Mahipalpur. This 25-30 km section is highly traffic-variable. Once on NH 48, traffic clears immediately.
6-lane, 120 km/h. The Aravalli range appears on the left as you leave Haryana. Beyond Shahjahanpur the landscape becomes definitively Rajasthani (red-brown scrub, yellow road signs).
The Aravallis close in. The first sight of Jaipur is the distinctive Nahargarh Fort on the ridge. The driver takes the correct exit (Sikar Road or Durgapura) for your destination.
Driver drops at specific hotel entrance, bazaar, fort, or airport. Walled city hotels are approached through the correct city gate.
Combining Fatehpur Sikri and Agra in a single day from Jaipur is the standard itinerary. The driver stops at Fatehpur Sikri (30 km from Agra) on the way out without backtracking. A combined Dehradun-Jaipur-Agra-Delhi circuit over 3-4 days is bookable as a single package.
Jodhpur (the Blue City, Mehrangarh Fort) and Udaipur (City of Lakes, Lake Palace) are excellent onward trips. A Rajasthan heritage circuit from Dehradun (Jaipur → Jodhpur → Udaipur) is one of the finest 5-day itineraries available in a single package.
Amer Fort (11 km), Nahargarh Fort (sunset views), and Abhaneri (Chand Baori stepwell) can be added as day trips. Retaining your driver avoids negotiating with local transport.
Pushkar (Brahma temple, sacred lake) and Ajmer (Dargah Sharif) are 10 km apart and easily combined in a single day trip from Jaipur or as an overnight on the way to Jodhpur.
